Scope

What the design covers

Uninterruptible power supply: static UPS and ROTARY UPS, generator sets, automatic transfer switching (ATS), N+1 / 2N redundancy
MV/LV power distribution, main and zonal switchboards, busbar trunking, cable routes
Server room cooling and HVAC, cold/hot aisles, free cooling — in cooperation with the plumbing & HVAC discipline
BMS / DCIM automation, monitoring of environmental and power parameters
Fire alarm system (FAS), early smoke detection, fixed gas fire suppression systems
Access control, CCTV, intruder and hold-up alarm system (I&HAS), structured and fibre-optic cabling
Cross-discipline coordination, approvals with the distribution system operator, certified experts and the operator
Designer's site supervision, acceptance inspections, as-built documentation

Do you design server rooms across all disciplines or only the electrical side?

Across all disciplines: electrical, uninterruptible power supply, ELV systems, BMS/DCIM automation and — with partners — cooling and HVAC, structural engineering and architecture. We coordinate the whole.

What redundancy class will you design?

Whatever your service requires: from N+1 to 2N and ROTARY UPS configurations. We select the class at concept design stage, based on the power balance and availability requirements.

How long does a server room design take?

A concept design with a power balance usually takes a few weeks; the building permit and detailed designs depend on scale and approvals with the distribution system operator — we agree the schedule when we quote.
